MARK ROTHKO HONORARY PLAQUE INSTALLATION IN THE NEW LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL This year, the Lincoln High School Alumni Association Board of Directors approved a request from the LHS Front Office to sponsor illustrious LHS alumni plaques for establishing an alumni wall of honor in the front entrance foyer of the new school building. The first plaque donated by the Alumni Association was made for internationally renowned musician and singer-songwriter Elliott {Steven} Smith, LHS Class of 1987, currently installed in the new school's entrance. We are proud to announce Mark Rothko, LHS Class of 1921, as the second honorary alum to have a plaque installed next to Elliott Smith for initiating the Lincoln High School Alumni Wall of Honor. Mark Rothko is regarded worldwide as a master of Color Field Fine Art painting. Many of his iconic paintings are considered by art critics, artists, and collectors as some of the most profound works of twentieth-century Abstract Expressionism. Rothko's Painting No. 6, sold at Sotheby’s for $186 million – currently recorded as one of the “Top 5 Most Expensive Paintings Ever Sold". | Career plans: I am planning on majoring in Political Science at a four-year university, and then continuing into a career in either law or journalism. High school activities and honors: I am one of the Associated Student Body Co-Presidents at my high school and have been involved in student government since my freshman year. I am a co-president of a student club called LINC, which provides Lincoln students with education and harm reduction surrounding substance abuse. I am also involved in the Mental Health Awareness Club and the Period Club. What are you most proud of during your high school career? I am most proud of my progression as a leader over the span of my high school career, and the ways in which I’ve been able to bring the students closer together through events and community bonding. What is your favorite Rose Festival event and why? My favorite Rose Festival event is the Grand Floral Parade because I love being able to come together as a community and watching all the different floats.  | Lincoln High School claimed first place and will continue to the national competition, hosted by the Center for Civic Education on April 13-15, 2024, at the National Conference Center near Washington, DC! Civics Learning Project hosted the 2024 We the People Constitution Team State Tournament at the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse in downtown Portland on Saturday, February 3rd. Six high schools competed in the tournament. United States District Judge Michael H. LHS FLOCK Z TV FUNDRAISING EVENT THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT FOR LINCOLN STUDENTS! Recap of FLOCK Z TV Event by Sarah Harrington Steve and I feel exceptionally grateful for 16 years in the Portland Public School system and for being part of a community that has included YOU! Watching kids like Miles progress from the Chapman Elementary Talent Show to the FLOCK ZTV stage has been a privilege. While he found his wings in performing arts, we’ve witnessed the classes of ‘21 of ’24 taking flight in fashion, debate, athletics, social justice, culinary arts, communications, business, languages, core coursework, and more. While we have a touch of Senioritis, we wish to go back, slow it down, and watch it all again. Your time and talents have helped many blossom. When times feel hard, we hope you remember to sit with that. |

The Lincoln High School Alumni Association was established on the foundation for all alums' access to membership. We continue to operate as a non-profit organization, sustained 100% by alum donations and volunteer Board Members to ensure low-cost overheard and annual membership dues. The Board started evolving in 2017 and was completed in early 2019 under the guidance and vision of David Perlman. The LHSAA Board of Directors and Committee members are multi-generational LHS graduates who volunteer their time to develop and provide free services for reconnecting and networking with LHS alums within our social, cultural, and business community. | Our quarterly LHSAA Magazine, under the guidance and vision of Dana Barton Cress with publishing provided by the Pamplin Media Group alum Robert Pamplin, has brought Lincoln's alumni stories to life with vivid images and content. LHSAA Endowment Fund Scholarships provide opportunities for LHS students to achieve a secondary education from 100% alum donations. We strive to uphold our mission of integrity and goodwill to all Lincoln High students and alums. Both of these new platforms have allowed us to make membership renewals and donations a more efficient process. |  |
